J&K Police attach property of drug peddler, seizes cash under NDPS Act in Shopian

In a major crackdown against the drug menace, Police have attached a double-storey residential house worth Rs 14.76 lakh and seized cash of Rs 6 lakh belonging to a notorious drug peddler in Jammu Kashmir’s Shopian district.

The accused drug peddler has been identified as Farooq Ahmad Koka a resident of Melhura Zainapora, Police said on Thursday.

They said the action was taken under section 68-E read with 68-F(1) of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.

“The property attachment and the seizure of cash is linked to FIR No. 36/2024 of Police Station Zainapora and was executed in the presence of duly constituted Police team and the Executive Magistrate, ensuring full compliance with legal protocols”, police said.

“The property was identified as illegally acquired property during the course of investigation/enquiry conducted by Shopian Police” police said, adding “the property & the seized cash were prima facie acquired from illicit trafficking in narcotic drug and psychotropic substances by the owner”.
