CM Omar meets Amit Shah, discusses L&O, Industrial & Tourism Policies in J&K

Date:

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah met Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday to discuss key issues concerning law and order in the Union Territory, as well as changes in industrial and tourism policies aimed at boosting these sectors.

Sources told news agency KINS that the meeting focused on the recent incidents that raised security concerns in the region, including a suicide in Kathua and the shooting of a truck driver at a checkpoint in Sopore.

Both incidents occurred on February 4 and 5, prompting Abdullah to address the need for thorough investigations.

“I have taken up these incidents with the Union Government and stressed that they be investigated transparently and within a time frame. The J&K government will also conduct its own inquiries,” Abdullah stated in a post on X.

During the meeting, Abdullah emphasized the importance of involving the people of Jammu and Kashmir in the peace-building process. “As the public representative of the people, my government should play a significant role in maintaining law and order,” he told Shah.

The meeting came a week after Home Minister Amit Shah chaired security-focused meetings on the situation in J&K. Abdullah also briefed the Home Minister on the upcoming business rules, which are under review by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Furthermore, Abdullah discussed potential changes to the industrial and tourism policies in the region to attract investment and promote tourism. (KINS
