Protests continue over water crises in Sopore for 3rd day

 Protests over water crises continued on third day in Sopore town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Wednesday.

Talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the protestors said that they are without drinking water for the last 20 days and the department concerned is least bothered about their miseries.

“There is no drinking water in our area and we are being compelled to fetch raw water from river Jhelum and drink contaminated water which is unhygienic and health hazardous for us”, said a protestor. 

He said that they brought the issue into the notice of officers concerned several times, but to avail.

Meanwhile, assistant executive engineer Jal Shakti department Zahoor Ahmed told KNO that the people using boosters and overusing water for their kitchen gardens, thereby making tale-end residents suffer.

“We will look into the matter, we don’t want anyone to suffer,” he added
