2 labourers die, another injured after sand mound collapses on them in J&Ks Anantnag

At least two labourers died and another sustained injuries when a huge mound of sand collapsed on them in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Wednesday, officials said.

They said the incident occurred at Gadhanjipora in Bijbehara when some people were extracting sand during which a huge portion caved in and buried the three labourers.

Soon after the incident the locals of the area launched a rescue operation to retrieve the labourers from under the sand.

However, after hectic efforts the three were retrieved and shifted to nearby hospital where two among them were declared brought dead.

The deceased have been identified as 35-year-old Mohammad Altaf Khan a resident of Kher Traith Rajouri and 40-year-old Mushtaq Ahmad Khan of Kaigam Anantnag.

The injured was identified as Abdul Rahman (50) a resident of Bijbehara and he has been shifted to Government Medical College Anantnag for further treatment, the officials said.
