IED-like suspicious object detected in J-K’s Baramulla

A suspicious object, likely an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), was detected and destroyed by security forces on Wednesday in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.


The object, concealed in a trolley bag, was found near the Baramulla-Srinagar National Highway close to Pattan.


Officials said the object was spotted by security forces during routine patrolling with the assistance of sniffer dogs. Soon after the detection, senior police, Army and the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) personnel rushed to the spot and secured the area. The traffic along the highway was also stopped.


The suspicious object was safely destroyed by the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS). Fortunately, no loss of life or damage to property was reported.


Traffic on the National Highway was later restored, officials confirmed.
