Jammu Police seized 933 vehicles during special drives in the year 2024 in Jammu District in a bid to safeguard natural resources and curb the activities of the mining mafia.
A police spokesman said out of 933 vehicles seized 831 vehicles were released upon completing necessary formalities.
Fines amounting to Rs 1,31,57,312/ were imposed on violators during the year and additionally, for vehicles repeatedly involved in illegal mining activities, four FIRs were registered, highlighting the stern legal action being taken.
The process for cancelling the registration of these habitual offender vehicles has also been initiated, said the spokesman adding that the overarching goal of these efforts is to safeguard natural resources and curb the activities of the mining mafia, which poses a threat to the environment and public assets.
Speaking on the achievements, SSP Jammu, Joginder Singh stated that Jammu Police is committed to protecting public property and eradicating the menace of illegal mining in the region.
“These efforts will continue to ensure the preservation of natural resources and strict action against violators,” he said, adding that this decisive action demonstrates Jammu Police’s unwavering commitment to enforcing the law and protecting the community’s natural resources.
