J&K Police open 53 history sheets against habitual drug peddlers in Srinagar

Date:

In a major step to dismantle the organized drug networks operation, Jammu and Kashmir Police has formally opened 53 history sheets against habitual drug peddlers across various police stations in Srinagar district.

This initiative is part of intensified anti-drug operations by Srinagar Police, aimed at eliminating the drug menace from society.

This action, sanctioned by the District Police Headquarters, Srinagar, marks an important move to monitor and dismantle organized drug networks operating in the region, police said on Tuesday.

The individuals identified in these History Sheets have a well-documented criminal history, with repeated involvement in drug-related offenses, particularly under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Their activities have primarily revolved around the illicit trade and distribution of narcotics, with a concerning impact on the youth of Srinagar.

“Despite multiple arrests and legal actions, these offenders have continued their illegal operations, posing a persistent threat to public safety and order”, police said adding “many of them who are still behind bars are also implicated in a range of other criminal activities, including fraud, assault, and organized drug trafficking, underscoring their status as repeat offenders”.

Jammu and Kashmir Police remains committed to its mission of ensuring a drug-free environment and urges the public to support these efforts by reporting any suspicious activities related to drug trafficking.

“For any information related to drug dealers/peddlers in Srinagar, citizens are encouraged to contact the police through official helpline number 9596770550”, police said and added “together, we can build a safer and healthier Srinagar”.
