J&K Police seizes 09 vehicles involved in illegal extraction/ transportation of minerals in Handwara

 Continuing its drive against illegal mining and unauthorized transportation of minerals, Police in Handwara has carried out a special drive across different areas of the Police District and seized 06 tractors, 03 dumpers, involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals.

Acting on specific inputs and in strict compliance with environmental and mining regulations, teams from various police units launched coordinated inspections and checks. Nine vehicles including 06 tippers and 03 dumpers were found operating in violation of mining norms and without valid documentation. Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered and further investigation is underway.

Police remains committed in protecting natural resources and urges the general public to report any instances of illegal mining or mineral transportation to the nearest police station. Strict action under law shall be taken against violators.(JKNS)
