J&K Police seizes illegal timber in Baramulla

In a swift operation against timber smuggling, J&K Police successfully seized a consignment of illicit Timber in Baramulla.

J&K Police received reliable information regarding illegal smuggling of forest timber in the Goigam area.

Acting swiftly on the input, a police team was deputed to the spot for verification and search. During the search operation, illegal forest timber was seized with the following details: 38 window frames measuring 4 × 1½ feet, 03 planks measuring 5 × 5 inches & 04 planks measuring 1½ × 5 inches. The seized timber was recovered on the spot from the possession of Khurshheed Ahmad Khan, son of Ab. Ghani Khan, resident of Goigam. Accordingly, a case FIR No. 13/2026 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Kunzer and investigation was initiated.

J&K Police assures the public that strict action will continue against all those involved in timber smuggling and other illegal activities to safeguard the environment and natural resources.(JKNS)
