J&K: Two minors burnt alive in Tangmarg fire incident

In a tragic incident, two minor siblings were burnt alive after a fire broke out in a residential structure in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday, officials said.


The Fire and Emergency Service officials said the fire broke out around noon in a house made of Galvanized Corrugated Iran (GCI) Sheets and Plywood single story structure at Ferozpora Tangmarg in which two minor siblings burnt alive.


The deceased have been identified as 3-year-old Mina Ashraf and his 3-month-old sister Muntazir Ashraf both children of Mohammad Ashraf Dar.


Soon after the fire broke out the local people of the area rushed to the spot to conduct a rescue operation but were unable to save the children in time, an eyewitness said.


The incident came to light when the mother of the deceased children had gone to the market leaving them alone in the house, they said.


The cause of the fire is stated to be under investigation.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident.
