Mosque, 2 houses damaged in massive fire in Srinagar

Date:

A mosque and two residential houses were damaged in a massive fire that broke out in Srinagar’s Eidgah area on Wednesday, officials said.

Fire and Emergency service officials said that fire broke out at 11.15 am at Firdous Colony in Masjid Umar and engulfed two nearby houses causing extensive damage to the property.

Several fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the leaping flames, they said.

However, no one was injured in the incident.

The cause of the fire is being ascertained, they added.

This is the second mosque damaged in fire incidents in less than ten days in Srinagar.

On June 25 in a major fire incident a mosque, six shopping centres and about 20 residential houses were damaged at Bohari Kadal in downtown Srinagar.
