PM Modi speaks to Netanyahu on peace and stability in the region

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday spoke with his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu on the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, and highlighted India’s consistent stand in favour of early restoration of peace & stability in the region.

The two leaders also deliberated on their shared concerns on the safety of maritime traffic.

In a post on X, Modi said, “Had a productive exchange of views with PM @netanyahu on the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, including shared concerns on the safety of maritime traffic. Highlighted India’s consistent stand in favour of early restoration of peace & stability in the region with continued humanitarian assistance for the affected”.

The Prime Minister spoke to the Israeli PM a week after India voted in favour of a United Nations resolution that demanded an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

According to the health ministry in Gaza, at least 19,600 people have been killed in Israeli attacks since October 7.
