Police arrests 02 drug peddlers in Ganderbal; Contraband substance recovered

 In a continued drive against drug abuse, Police in Ganderbal have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession.

A Police team of PS Kheerbawani at a checkpoint established at Central University, Tullamulla Road, intercepted a vehicle (Maruti-800) bearing registration No. JK01U-3866 with two persons on board. They have been identified as Showkat Ahmad Bhat son of Bashir Ahmad Bhat and Sameer Ahmad Bhat son of Mohammad Muzaffar Bhat, both residents of Batwina, Ganderbal. During search, Heroin-like substance was recovered from their possession. They have been arrested and the vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 41/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Kheerbhawani, and investigation is underway to ascertain the source and intended distribution network of the contraband.

J&K Police reiterates its firm commitment to eradicate the menace of drugs from society and urges the public to cooperate by sharing any information related to drug trafficking.(JKNS)
