Police attach property of drug peddler under NDPS Act in Srinagar

Date:

In yet another act to curb the drug menace and dismantle illegal narcotic networks, Police in Srinagar have attached the property of a notorious drug peddler under the Narco Act.

Police on Thursday said the legal action was taken from case FIR No. 134/2024, registered against the drug peddler identified as Mohammad Irfan Sheikh a resident of Pamposh Colony Palpora under the jurisdiction of Police Post Noorbagh.

“During the investigation, it came to fore that a huge quantity of narcotic drugs had been seized and the accused had acquired substantial property including a house and land through the proceeds of illegal drug trade,” police said adding, “Adhering to relevant legal procedures, the property including a house and land valued in lakhs has been attached under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.”

“A series of strong legal actions by Srinagar police is to convey a message to one and all involved in drug-related crimes that long arm of law would catch up with them sooner or later,” police warned and said, “We target not only offenders for the crimes they commit, but also their unlawfully acquired assets would be attached and seized under law of the land.”

Police have again appealed to the general public to assist them in the fight against drug trafficking by sharing any relevant information.
