UP: 3 killed, 8 injured as jeep collides with truck

Three people were killed and eight others injured when a jeep collided with a truck in the Wazirganj area of Gonda district here in Uttar Pradesh on Friday, police sources said.

Police sources said that Dharm Dutt Mishra, a resident of Nagwa village, along with his family, had gone for the darshan of Ram Lalla and performed ‘the’mundan’ ceremony in Ayodhya.

“While they were returning, the jeep collided with the truck, killing three people on the spot,” they said.

Police sources said that the deceased have been identified as jeep driver Matadin Bari (50), Rani (40) and Shlok (8).

“Eight people, including Mohini Mishra (28), Neelam Mishra (45), Priti Tiwari (30), Himesh (28), Adarsh Pandey (2), Laxmi Tiwari (21), Roli (14) and Anshika (14), sustained serious injuries in the incident,” they said.

Police sources said that the injured have been admitted to the district hospital.

“The bodies have been sent for postmortem examination,” they said.
