Remembering former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his birth anniversary, Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday said that by founding BJP, Vajpayee provided Indian politics with a political alternative that prioritised national interest and cultural nationalism.

According to Shah, whether it was making India a nuclear power, or embodying good governance, the NDA government led by Vajpayee back in the day gave a governance model that not only promoted heritage, but also science, simultaneously.

Shah said that as a veteran leader, Vajpayee was a powerful and unforgettable figure in the nation’s politics, who was well known for his dedication to public service and organisational strength.

Meanwhile, Shah also paid tribute to Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya on his birth anniversary, who was the founder of Banaras Hindu University and a great social reformer.

In a post on X, Shah stated that considering education as the fundamental principle of social reform, Malaviya inspired the youth to pursue modern education based on Indian cultural values through the establishment of Banaras Hindu University.

Shah said that Malaviya also made a significant contribution in making the press a medium for nation-building.

The Home Minister said that Mahamana’s lifelong commitment to the eradication of untouchability and his pro-farmer initiatives will always be remembered.
